Exercise

Hey guys.

Me and Gareth have decided we don't want to be lazy and end up with big bellies as we get older, so have decided to start exercising! It started with doing some push ups and sit ups - but then we got told that sit ups are bad for the back.. What is your opinion on this?

We have a load of other ways to exercise too, just to prevent ourselves from becoming lazy, because where the weather here is quite chilly and wet, and the fact that we are at work for the majority of the day, we just end up sitting around and it's not good for us.

We also concluded that we are going to try and go swimming at least once a week, doing laps in the pools, since that is a pretty good way to exercise. It's going to be tough but it'll be loads of fun at the same time. And I'm honestly excited because I've never really bothered with exercising in this way as such, I just did a lot of cycling to and from work, walking and things like that.

On another note, I exercised my brain today too, by doing a drawing of an anime (Japanese cartoon) character known as Krillin, from one of my favourite anime's Dragon Ball Z. (: Here's a photo.

I was quite happy with how it turned out. I'll probably end up doing another drawing at some point in the week.

Have a grand week guys!

  1. I think that crunches are better than actual sit ups, if crunches are what I think they are! lol As you can tell from that comment I'm not sure, I can say though that sit ups, from my personal experiences, have helped me tone up when I was younger, today they are hard on my lower back so I don't do them anymore. I however have to get doing something soon, I was going to join the gym but now my daughter has needed some help so it's been postponed. Once things settle down a tad, I'll probably get a personal trainer for a year and go hard. I don't like my middle age spare tire! Have a fantastic week Saz!

    1. Haha, oh dear! I wish I could afford to go to the gym more often to be honest, but I really can't. Especially when I'm back home, the gyms are so expensive here it's ridiculous.

  2. Hi Saz,

I sit up every morning when I get out of bed, and I don't think it hurts my back.

As for deliberately doing a bunch of sit ups, I'd look pretty weird getting in and out of bed multiple times ...

    1. Haha, this is true.. You would look a bit odd doing that Rick!
I suppose when you put it like that, doing sit ups is a bit of an odd thing to do.
